Shamadan costume
It was our pal Dina’s wedding a few weeks ago, and we were pretty busy last term learning a fabulous Shamadan choreography to perform at the reception. The costume she requested was a bit vintage-y, a bit tribal-y, so here’s what I’ve put together.
Leopard Print Bedlah
This year I had a bit of a thing for leopard print. I found this gorgeous burnout stretch velvet in leopard print, but then when I hit a pause in the making of this costume, I decided to order another leopard print costume from Bella. Melaya Dress (Iskandreya Dress)
This cheeky, ruffled dress always makes me put on a very flirtatious persona when dancing in it! I almost never wear short skirts, so this one having a section above the knee was a bit confronting! Tights always help though…
Burgundy Neo-Victorian/Steampunk costume
This was another SF convention costume, this time for the Wastelands steampunk-themed convention. I was involved in a “What is Steampunk?” panel, and since I hadn’t done much preparation, I decided that staying up the night before making a new costume was better use of my time than actually researching!
Chocolate Velvet Dress

This dress started out its life thinking it was going to become a dress for belly dance, but once I’d pieced it together and done the beaded trim, it was starting to look decidedly more Medieval-inspired. When Book Week came around at work I decided to add an underdress, a cord and coin belt and voila! Morgan le Fae – ish!
